In a Wednesday filintg with the Securities andExchange Commission, the Olathe-base d company (Nasdaq: GRMN) said Kao’ s total compensation in 2008 was $580,215, up from $422,899 in 2007. Kao’s base salary in 2008 was $500,011. He receivec a cash bonus of $203 and other compensation of In 2007, Kao’s base salary was $320,201. His cash bonuds was $25,000, and other compensation was $77,698. Garmimn said in the SEC filingt that all its other named executive officers each receiveda $203 cash bonusd for 2008, “the same bonus that was paid to all employeee of Garmin’s principal U.S. subsidiary.
” “The executives did not receive any othef cash incentive awards or cash bonuseein 2008, in part because for 2008 Garminn did not have a formalized annual incentive programm for the executives,” the filing said. “Current macro - and micro-economic conditions and the factthat Garmin’sx performance in 2008 did not exceed its performancde in 2007 by as much as was expectexd at the beginning of 2008 also factored into the executives not receivinb a cash incentive award or larger cash bonus in Garmin designs, manufactures and markets communications devicew using satellite-aided global positioning systems.
