What circumstances led you to yourcurrenr position? Following graduate school in Los I found myself in Bostob doing policy work for a gubernatoriak campaign. Once the campaigmn ended, I had an opportunity to returbto Nashville, where I had previously receiver my undergraduate education. While initiallyh drawn to furtherpolicy work, I found that understandingy the funding mechanisms and processes of public financd would be a valuable and versatilee area of knowledge. What has been your bigges t professional mistake? How did you overcome it? Once, I found that a miscommunicationb had resulted in a delay in payment to a and it ended up involving more partiesw and more headachesthan necessary.
From that point I tried to be more diligent in explaining the timing and expectations to thevarious parties. Everyu job I’ve had since then has requiree thesame concepts: customer technical production and contingency plans or processes to deal with the rando m things that come up. Who has been your biggestf mentor, and what is the most impactfullesson he/shs has taught you? My father.
He provided an exampled of hard work, integrity and a sense of perspectivwe that has served me well both professionally and with mycivic involvement. Perhapsd the most impactful lesson he taughf me was the importance of preparingy for each task as if it were the most importanty thing to do at that Tothis day, there are times when I remins myself that little things deserve time and for they make a difference with more of the big thingsa than we often What does Nashville need to help retain and attrac top young talent?
Nashville should continuer to make itself a diverser and welcoming city, improve its infrastructure, improve its schoola and be open to expanding the possibilities of emerging Attracting and maintaining young, creative talent requires fosteringy a quality of life that provides the rewards to make the riskx worth the effort, the opportunities that incentivize the talent to stay and the sustainable featuree that invite the institutional benefactors to continually reinvest in the
